How Many Traeger Shutdown Methods Are There?

The shutdown method you need to follow depends on the model you own. In particular, it depends on thetype of controlleryour model is equipped with. Therefore, you should first identify the controller model you havebeforeyou try to shut it down.

As far as I know, there are four different types of Traeger grill controllers:

• WiFIRE touchscreen controller.
• WiFIRE-enabled controller.
• AC digital controller.
• ARC controller.

To shut down your Timberline XL or Timber grill, follow the instructions below carefully:

How To Turn Off (i.e., Shutdown) Your WiFIRE-Enabled Grill?

To shut down any of the models above, follow the instructions below carefully:

Step 1:

Open the lid of the grill.

Step 2:

Remove whatever it is you’ve been cooking.

Step 3:

Press and hold the temperature control dial for 3 seconds until “Shutdown Cycle” and a countdown timer appear on the digital display.

Step 4:

Close the lid. Wait approximately 20 to 30 minutes until the fan automatically shuts off.

Step 5:

Flick the power switch to off (O) to turn off Traeger.

Step 6:

Unplug the power cord (optional).

Step 7:

Check that your pellets are no longer burning. Wait until the grill has fully cooled down. Remove and dispose of the cold ashes.

Drag the fire button down vertically to initiate shutdown.

Backburn is an adverse event whenthe pellets situated in the auger are burning, and smoke is escaping through the hopper. This is not supposed to happen.
