  Very caring but involves her personal life/trauma into every lecture. I learned more about her childhood and familial structure than the course. Can be a bit intense, aggressive, and opinionated. Read the textbook and be on time or you will be punished with timed quizzes. Full of empty threats/lashes out easily. Despite it, she can be considerate.

  I can honestly say that this professor fueled my passion. She would take the time to respond to emails and any questions I had throughout the semester then later apologized to the class for her slight "negligence" because of her chemo. She is a caring, beautiful soul who's lectures are beautifully written. Thank you Professor Sierra.

  Literally so hard for a sociology class. She expects way too much I'm regretting getting her. 300 words per question? The questions are so hard to answer after re-reading the text 100 times. So confusing how she structures them too. Also, it's timed. The modules are locked per week which is sooo frustrating because I can't even prepare for the next

  The content of this class was fascinating. Since the course was only 6 weeks we only had 4 assignments. She is clear about expectations; however, each module and assignment was time locked/sensitive. You couldn't look ahead and prepare for an assignment. Once and assignment was open you would have less than a week to complete. Zero extra credit.

  Took the class online and its a simple read chapter and test but the tests are very hard even after reading the chapter twice and the professors notes. Test are only once not timed but the questions are tough. I made an A but I had to work extra hard. avoid.

  I took this class online over the summer, and it was my first class as a dual enrollment student. This class was very interesting and easy, I read about 2 chapters a week and took a quiz on said chapters. That was pretty much all the assignments in the class, except for one discussion post based on a documentary. The prof was rlly kind, def take.

  She's a lot. Very much from the Bronx and very much a talker. The lectures won't get you very far, she doesn't get through most of the slides but they're all online. Only quizzes and attendance as grades, sometimes she'll give you a 100 on a quiz for being present. A real character, you'll be entertained but you won't learn much without reading.

  Dr. Sierra is a great professor who clearly wants her students to succeed. She is clear in what she expects. She doesn't time the quizzes, and she has the class organized from day 1. Great class if you are a Sociology or Social Work major. Good as an interesting elective. I got dropped for my tuition and she helped me get back in. Take her please

  Melissa is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. She is hilarious and so entertaining, but makes sure to always go over all the material in class. On top of it being an easy A, she genuinely cares about her students and their opinions and is always open to discussion.

  This class isn't one that requires a lot of your time. Every week, you are assigned to read a chapter, review a power point in class, and take a short quiz. In addition to her relaxed class assignments, she is incredibly funny and genuinely takes an interest in her students. I highly recommend taking her.
